Halloween may fall on a Monday this year, but there’s a lot of spooky, haunted, dress-up fun to be had through the end of the month. Here’s a list of Lane County events celebrating Halloween, area houses decorated for the holiday as well as where to travel for haunted houses nearby.

SPRINGfilm screening of “Juan of the Dead”: Watch as zombies rise in Cuba in the 2011 comedy horror Spanish language film (in Spanish with English subtitles), a satirical political commentary poking fun at the Cuban government. 6:30 p.m. Oct. 19 at Richard E. Fright Night at the Museum: The Springfield History Museum is hosting a haunted house fundraiser, transforming the museum into a spook-tacularly scary journey through local history and water management. The haunted museum will be family-friendly, with less scares and more lights from 4 to 5:30 p.m. Then beginning at 6 p.m. the lights will go down for the scares for older kids and adults. If you make it through, there’s a “recovery station” with photo ops and free snacks. It’s $5, $3 for ages 5-18 and 5 and younger are free. Family of five or more are $20. Ballet Fantastique “The Legend of Sleepy Hollow”: Ballet Fantastique’s wickedly funny original dance theater adaptation of Washington Irving’s classic 1820 tale of superstition and rivalry. Haunted Hike: Nearby Nature hosts a family-oriented hourlong night hike, encountering furry and feathered creatures in costume, from a gigantic bat to a sneaky spider. Howloween: Kids can show off their costumes and learn about wildlife at the Oregon Zoo in Portland.
