There is never a shortage of things to do and places to visit in this part of Florida. This week alone there’s a play, a concert with a legendary rock band, a beach walk, and an exhibition with influential black women from the area, and that’s not even a seafood festival in Jacksonville. Remember to be careful and stay safe.

Women who made a difference

This exhibit at the Lincolnville Museum & Cultural Center celebrates local black women who have overcome obstacles through courage and determination. The women are portrayed in biographical sketches and memorabilia that highlight their lives as teachers, nurses, entertainers, business leaders, and community activists.

The exhibition is available until October 2nd. The Lincolnville Museum & Cultural Center is located at 102 ML King Ave., St. Augustine. For more information, please call 904-824-1191 or lincolnvillemuseum.org.

Limelight Theater Presents “The Odd Couple”

One of the playwright Neil Simon’s most popular comedies, “The Odd Couple,” features Oscar and Felix, newly divorced and reluctant roommates. Felix is a decent freak and Oscar is a slob. Their personality conflicts and arguments create the comedy as they get used to their singles life.

The band King Crimson, founded in London in 1968, known for their progressive style of music and their originality, will bring their sound to the St. Augustine Amphitheater on Saturday, 24th July. Press material said the band’s shows “consistently feature material from 12 of their 13 studio albums, including many songs from their memorable 1969 album In the Court of the Crimson King”.

The music of the California Guitar Trio crosses genres “between rock, jazz, classical and world music” and their music served as the soundtrack for coverage of the Olympic Games.
