Arsenal hero Ian Wright has told the producers of I’m A Celebrity that Manchester United icon Roy Keane would appear on the show if they gave out Starbars instead of stars after bushtucker trials. Wright appeared on I’m A Celebrity in 2019 but was the fifth person to be voted out of camp.
“I’m not just saying this, do you know why Roy would be brilliant in there is because people don’t realize Roy is actually cool,” Wright told ITV ahead of England’s World Cup showdown with Senegal. “They have to get Starbars instead of stars – he loves Starbars. He’d love it. I made friends for life – James Haskell, Nadine Coyle. I’ve made friends for life – he could do it.”
Wright entered the Australian jungle alongside the likes of Caitlyn Jenner, Kate Garraway and Roman Kemp. And he was tipped to do well in the show due to his charisma and cheeky personality. But the 59-year-old was criticized for his tense clashes with comedian Andrew Maxwell.
And he has since admitted that he would “take that time back” if he could. “To be totally honest, if I could take that time back I would,” he said. “They let me down by not showing the whole picture of who I am. We had so many brilliant in-depth conversations that were never shown.

A whole host of footballers have appeared on I’m A Celebrity since the show launched in 2002. Former Tottenham boss Harry Redknapp won the 2018 edition, while Jimmy Bullard, John Fashanu and Wayne Bridge have also been on.
And hosts Ant & Dec have previously revealed that Keane has been “close” to agreeing to enter the jungle. “You know what, Roy Keane would be very good,” Ant explained during an Instagram live video last month.
“We’ve asked him on a few occasions. And he’s been close. He has been close to saying yes so maybe next year could be the year. So come on Roy Keane. Do it for the lads, son.” And Dec added: “Roy Keane is top of our list – I would love Roy Keane.”
