Private jets face restrictions and possible bans under President Macron’s plans for “sobriety” in energy use.
Clément Beaune, the transport minister, said France could no longer tolerate people using private aircraft for their comfort while the public was being asked to make sacrifices in the energy crisis and because of climate change.
“Certain types of behavior are no longer acceptable,” Beaune told Le Parisien. “We have to act to regulate flights on private jets. There can’t be a means of individual travel for comfort at a time when the president’s campaign requires everyone to make an effort.”
