Ryan Reynolds talks about “destigmatizing” his children’s mental health

Hollywood star Ryan Reynolds spoke about the importance of talking about mental health issues.

During a recent interview with Entertainment Tonight, the Deadpool actor also spoke about his own mental health issues and how he would like his daughters to understand the problems caused by him as they grow up.

Part of that is that I have three daughters at home and part of my job as a parent is to model behaviors and model what it’s like to be sad and what it’s like to be fearful or angry “, he said.

“That there is room for all of these things. The home I grew up in wasn’t really modeled for me. And that’s not to say that my parents were negligent, but they are from a different generation, ”he continued.

“Part of it is destigmatizing things and creating a conversation [mental health]. I know when I felt at rock bottom it was usually because I felt like I was alone in something I was feeling. “

“So I think when people talk about it, I don’t necessarily dwell on it or complain about it, but I think it’s important to talk about it. And when you talk about it, it frees other people, ”he shared.

“Other people think, ‘Oh, he feels that, and so do I.’ And even if we live in two completely different areas or lead two completely different lives, it kind of connects us, ”said Reynolds.

“A lot of it is just a desire to model certain things for my own children and model things for anyone who might need to hear,” he added.
