FAYETTEVILLE, NC (WTVD) – Two young entrepreneurs left the corporate world to start a one-of-a-kind company during a pandemic.
Selfie Wrld Fayetteville is a photo experience and the first of its kind in town. The store is equipped with unique booths with different themes to create the perfect picture.
Over the past year, Sabrina Hendley-Hunter and Aneisha Bussey have worked around the clock to bring the franchise to the Sandhills, but it hasn’t been easy. After giving up their jobs in the healthcare industry during the pandemic, they went through many ups and downs but ultimately decided there was no better time to realize their dreams.
“During the pandemic, we realized that we don’t want to go back to the cooperative world because we know how hard it is to have a family and children,” Hunter said.
The co-owner says the two always talked about going into business together, both of which are HBCU graduates; Sabrina went to Fayetteville State University and Aneisha went to North Carolina Central University.
For most people, the idea of quitting their job at the height of a pandemic to start a new career isn’t the best way to go, but these two young women didn’t let that get in their way.
“Our parents were concerned about financial stability, but because our beliefs were stronger than our fear, I think that kept us going,” said Bussey.
The opening of the store was not an easy task; in difficult times, both of them are each other’s rock to lean on.
What’s unique about Selfie Wrld is a new idea that is drawing a lot of attention in the age of social media – something they only see bigger and more mature with opportunities.
Selfie Wrld Fayetteville is located at 435 Westwood Mall and is open as follows:
- Appointments can be booked from Sunday to Monday
- Tuesday to Thursday: 3 p.m. to 9 p.m.
- Friday: 3 p.m. to 10 p.m.
- Saturday: 12 p.m. to 10 p.m.
