It’s that time of the year when local Jamaican coincide with history and culture via music and sound at the greatest reggae show on earth.
The 27-year-old music festival known as the world’s greatest Jamaican reggae/dancehall music festival pays homage to the genres that originated in Jamaica.
Interestingly, the festival has set the stage for spotlighting Jamaican companies and artisanal brands by way of an artisan village.
For the past five iterations of the festival, Tortuga Spirit Cakes (aka Tortuga Caribbean Rum Cakes) has been an exemplary local brand sponsor of the festival. This year’s no different!

Tortuga Business Development Officer Shannon Dixon commented on the partnership before the festival, stating that the “Reggae Sumfest franchise is a legacy brand, and has been a part of Jamaican culture and history, so it was a no-brainer for us to come on board and introduce our brand to the local market as well as to stay top of mind to both local and foreign consumers. It’s only fitting that we’re a part of the legacy while continuing to [sustain and improve] our brand heritage.”
Like many booths in the village, the Tortuga dessert booth will incorporate trivia, a photo-op station, and giveaways. Plus, who doesn’t love a good rum cake?
Brand Jamaica
With all the Jamaican-made products, manufactured since 1925, it’s hardly surprising that the Tortuga brand would be associated with Reggae Sumfest.
“The Jamaica Blue Mountain Coffee Rum Cake has been around for over 10 years and the Jamaica Rum Fruit Cake is the newest addition to the Jamaica Provenance line, which started out during the 2019 holiday season,” Dixon informed in a statement.
She continued “…both products were specially created to celebrate Jamaica’s culture and its most loved recipes and flavours. Jamaica is full of spirit and natural beauty, which [adds to] vivid colors and unique illustrations, making them a treasured gift to be shared with those you love.”
The Tortuga team tapped into this artistic impression for the illustration of the Jamaica Rum Fruit Cake box, revealing the national flower and the national flag embedded in the special selection seal and the historic Rose Hall Great House.”
“We love and rep Brand Jamaica all the way,” Dixon said in closing.
