Rivian vehicles were recently spotted at Pikes Peak. Deliveries of the Rivian R1T are expected to begin this fall.
Nathan Schenk saw a pack of three Rivian electric vehicles near the Pikes Peak toll booths on Sunday. He shared a rare photo of a stock Rivian R1S in front of an R1T electric pickup truck and another Rivian car.
Last week, Rivian reservation owners reported receiving an email from the company’s CEO, RJ Scaringe. In summary, the email stated that Rivian had postponed deliveries to September again.
Rivian previously postponed deliveries to July. Rivian plans to deliver its R1T pickup first, followed by the R1S SUV. The company has postponed R1T deliveries several times. Rivian’s CEO said the company has been affected by the pandemic, from plant engineering to the vehicle component supply chain.

Rivian isn’t the only automaker grappling with the aftermath of the pandemic. According to Visual Capitalist, chip shortages have resulted in more than 1 million vehicle delays in North America alone.
For example, Tesla Model S Plaid shipments were delayed earlier this year, partly due to chip shortages. As Elon Musk has said many times in the past, producing is not as easy as it sounds. Rivian seems to be realizing the challenges of mass production right now, which is getting tougher after the pandemic.
